Every Spring and Fall Tallulah Gorge State Park offers kayakers an opportunity to test their paddling skills with Whitewater Release Boating Weekends.

On a normal day the water flow through the gorge is 35–40 CFS (cubic feet per second). During aesthetic releases, the flow is 200 CFS, and during whitewater releases, the flow is 500 CFS on Saturday and 700 CFS on Sunday.  The water flow through the gorge is 35–40 CFS (cubic feet per second). 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

Adventure enthusiasts and thrill seekers can challenge the roaring rapids but most might prefer to watch the show from the rim.  You can spend the entire day watching the boaters tackle the gorge! For safety reasons, solo hiking & rock climbing in the gorge are not allowed on these dates. Come enjoy the spectacular view of the kayaks as they paddle down the raging waters of the Tallulah Gorge.

A challenging Whitewater Watching Hike is available for a small fee on:

11 a.m.—2 p.m.

A Ranger led hike down to Bridal Veil Falls to watch brave souls whitewater paddle the Tallulah River. The water flowing through the gorge will be much stronger than usual, making the falls even more beautiful. Bring a snack and lots of water. The hike is strenuous! No pets allowed, kids must be 10 or older. Call to register. This hike may be cancelled if weather conditions are not favorable.
